Welcome to the website of Boy Scout Troop 194.  Boy Scout Troop 194 is chartered by the Mason United Methodist Church, Mason, Ohio, and is a member of the Hopewell District of the Dan Beard Council.  If you are a new visitor, please look around our website and learn about Scouting and our program at Troop 194.  Feel free to email the Troop Leadership if you have any questions.  If you are interested in Venturing, check out the Venture Crew 194 web site.  Thanks for visiting.

Scoutmaster and ASM Meeting - March 3rd at 7pm

 

We encourage all Assistant Scoutmasters and interested adults to attend. We will focus on supporting the PLC's March activity plan as well as prepare for the influx of over 28 new scouts in the month. We also would welcome the number of young Assistant Scoutmasters that we have. You are highly looked upon by new and younger scouts. You have a great ability to leave a positive influence on them.

Merit Badge Challenge - Mar 27 - Session 3 - Sycamore HS

All materials and course work are due, please ensure that you have the envelopes turned in, that you have your instructors name, email and phone number, and make sure that he has your email address so he may contact you if he has questions about requirements.

 
District Wide Training at Mason UMC - March 27th 8am-12pm

As the Hopewell District Boy Scout Trainer, I will be holding a district wide training at Mason UMC on Saturday March 27th from 800am till noon.  This training will be a combined Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster/Troop Committee member specific training and costs $10.

   Fundraising Minimize  
Kroger Gift Card Rebate Program

The Troop is using this program to save for a new Troop bus.  You can also use it to put money on your Scout's account.  4% of the money placed on your card will be rebated to the Troop - 80% of that goes to your Scout's account and the rest goes to the Bus Fund.  Click here for more information.  See Mr. Worobetz at a Troop meeting to purchase your card.

Aluminum Cans for Cash

The Troop is collecting cans and turning them into cash.  All cash procedes are accumulated iin a troop account that the PLC can use to fund projects, events, or items for the troop.  They've purchased a ping-pong table for the Church, Ground Effects Lighting for the Bus, New stoves, lanterns, and water jugs.  Great Work!

 
  
   Upcoming Campouts Minimize  
March 19-21 - Camp Friedlander

Our annual "New Scout" campout will be at the Daley campsite, Camp Friedlander.  All New Scouts, Instructors and Troop Guides for the New Scouts, Duct Tape and Spider Pig patrols are expected to attend.  Click on the "read more" link to download the permission slip.

 

Crew 194 and the Banshee Patrol will be visitng the Rapelling Tower and performing a conservation project.  We will all meet for dinner on Saturday, March 20.

April 23-25 - Hopewell District Camporee

We'll be joining the district Camporee at Twin Creek Metro Park (former Camp Hook) near Franklin, OH

 
  
   Summer Adventure Trips Minimize  
Troop Adventure Trek- June 12-18, 2010

All Scouts are invited to attend our Lake Erie Adventure Trek, June 12 - 18, 2010.  Cost will be approximately $150/person.  Tentaive activities include:

  • Tour of power plant (Energy Merit Badge)
  • Rifle shooting
  • Historical site visits
  • 1-day visit to Cedar Point amusement park

Interested Scouts and Adults should contact David Hoffman, Scoutmaster.

 
Key Largo Scuba High Adventure Trip - Jun 11-20

To ensure that the Troop and Crew maximize our high adventure progrom, we have launched the 2010 Key Largo High Adventure Trip.  The Trip is scheduled from June 11th and June 20th.  Please register with Amy Moertle via email, if you are interested.  We will be doing snorkeling, kayaking, diving, a day trip to Key West and more.   Please see the Key Largo High Adventure page for more detail.

Troop Summer Camp - July 11-17

All Scouts are wellcome to attend the Summer Camp Program at Camp Friedlander.  For new scouts there is a Road To Eagle proglrm that works with scouts to learn the requirements for each rank.  Older scouts are welcome to signup for other Merit Badges, Cope, or Powder Horn.
